About this deal

As Heather delves deeper into the investigation, she must push her grief aside and confront the possibility of betrayal from those close to her in the small town. In Delta County, where everyone knows each other, betrayal always hits a little too close to home. The novel takes readers on a journey through grief, love, and betrayal as Heather struggles to uncover the truth and come to terms with the events that changed her life forever.

Protagonist rants about tipping/how to treat customer service workers in a very heavy handed way that is clearly the author’s voice. I am all for good tipping etiquette and have worked in food service for years, but the commentary was out of place and unnecessary. The author repetitively mentions very specific businesses/happenings/events local to her hometown. I understand that she wanted to write about the place she grew up but it seemed like a cheap attempt at creating depth in the setting without trying, not to mention, the readers don’t really care the exact name of the place the protagonist got lunch or where she gets beer. Sorry. Michigan State University Extension programs and materials are open to all without regard to race, color, national origin, gender, gender identity, religion, age, height, weight, disability, political beliefs, sexual orientation, marital status, family status or veteran status. Issued in furtherance of MSU Extension work, acts of May 8 and June 30, 1914, in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Quentin Tyler, Director, MSU Extension, East Lansing, MI 48824. It was entirely all over the place - first there’s marital drama, then friend drama, some sort of murder mystery that gets completely forgotten for a majority of the book, a plot about the protagonist becoming an influencer, a pregnancy/fertility plot, and then the “big twist” that was just… dumb

MSU is an affirmative-action, equal-opportunity employer, committed to achieving excellence through a diverse workforce and inclusive culture that encourages all people to reach their full potential. This book read like it was written by a teenager writing about adults because the characters literally act and speak like they’re still in high school.
