About this deal

I'll attempt to aggregate all the info from the build threads, manual and personal experience here for easy reference for anyone buying/building their Yeti's. The SCX10 platform steering servo is mounted in the chassis, just as a full-size vehicle has its steering box located on the frame. WB8 HD Wildboar™ 3-piece front and rear driveshafts feature an updated design with a larger diameter cross pin (2x11mm) along with an M4 Screw Shaft (2mm hex drive) for strength. A center splined slider floats between each end and features added material to reduce flex and fatigue. The image below seems to becoming a common theme on multiple Wraith builds. For whatever reason, the RTR Axial Wraith drive line cross pins seem to be welded in . The hex drive on the cross pin is much too small and it either strips easily or breaks off the tip of the hex driver. So you are forced to either drill them out and try and save the Axial yoke, or just cut the pin out and ruin the Axial yoke. Drilling them is a lot of fun. The pins are hardened steel and so are the yokes .

Tools used were simply a dremel with a plastic cutting tool, plastic epoxy and the calipers you see later. Easy Pay financing option is available at Horizon’s sole discretion and terms are subject to change. I have tried searching several times for measurements for the SCX10 ii front and rear links- eye to eye measurement.Side view of the front drive shaft and axle. You can also see the Crawler Innovations delrin links: As you can see below, one yoke I just cut completely through and ruined the Axial output. On the other output I removed just enough material to get the threaded section of the cross pin out so the trans output could be re-used.

I didn't use any epoxy/JB weld or anything, but the bolts to hold the link mounts will hold the driveshaft from twisting and the fact that its pressed in there it won't get pulled out.

Thread: Drive shaft length

The Axial Wraith transmission outputs are just slightly over 5mm. I think it's the anodized coating or heat treating. If you take a file or sand paper and remove the coating the, the C.I. 5mm adapter slides right over and the cross pin hole aligns correctly: I have had no issue finding measurements for the OG SCX10, and I have been able to find the length of the actual rods for the ii as well. Since I will be making them myself and have several different sizes of rod ends to work with I need an actual eye to eye measurement for each link. Pictured below is the Crawler Innovations Steel 5mm to Maxx Shaft Adapter. I designed these adapters to easily convert any 5mm axle input pinion to the 6mm Traxxas Maxx Shaft flat and drive pin. The adapters are sold with two 6mm set screws. However, they will also work with the Traxxas Maxx Drive / Cross Pins.
