About this deal

An item offered for sale by NEC in the Turbo Catalog. Additional pictures of the shirt courtesy of Marty Keating, thanks to Adam and Jessica of People Play Games in Chicago, IL. Pic #1, pic #2, pic #3 and pic #4. About an hour later, we finally found him handing out stuff near the staircase to the merchandise level. I introduced myself and Brenton, and we headed outside to start talking business, because it was impossible to hear in there.

Harder Than Hard: The second and third game has Game Master difficulty, a difficulty above the Difficult difficulty. My third Splatterhouse milestone is rapidly approaching. And this one, I think, will be the most memorable of all. Bad Future: One of the places you travel to in the remake, New York City, thirteen months after failing to save Jennifer, the Corrupted have basically ended everything.

Suspicious Video-Game Generosity: The penultimate boss in Splatterhouse 2 gives you plenty of points worth extra lives, and you might need them if this is your first time playing the game blind. Recurring Boss: All the mini-bosses and also the Giant Boreworm, who you have to fight (and some times behead) at least four times, if not more. Here are pictures of the Hell Chaos sculpted by Takashi Oda from the original Splatterhouse line, courtesy of the man himself: side view, size, ???!

Just a reminder: even though time may pass between updates here, all of the latest, up to the minute Splatterhouse news can be found over on the forum. So if you don't seen something new posted here, or have news that you'd like to report, head over there and take a look around. Exact Time to Failure: Usually played straight in the third game, but mercilessly averted when it comes to Stage 2. "Alright, I beat the Giant Boreworm with (any amount of time below 2 minutes) remaining, I— wait, JENNIFER DIED?!" Kaizo Trap: The original arcade game pulls this three times. The first boss fight has a final leech leap out of the hanging corpse. The second boss fight has the infamous One-Hit Kill Falling Chandelier of Doom. The penultimate level's boss (a giant uterus) spews out deadly embryonic fluids upon being killed.Magnetic Plot Device: Obtained from evidence from the manuals and games, it is revealed that the Terror Mask is the one thing responsible for summoning evil spirits and turning houses into massive horrifying fleshpiles. Apparently, it's a magnet for evil of all sorts. Even the Wanpaku Graffiti ending featured it coming to life, and laughing evilly while poltergeists proceeded to trash the studio. P.M. EST (latest update today) - Thanks to PrimeOp, I now have a link to the video of the 1993 Violence In Video Games Senate Hearing. I have transcribed the part about Splatterhouse 3 and posted it, along with the link to the video (and corresponding times) in the Trivia section. One of the heads circling the "inverted cross" boss from the first game is the head of The Toxic Avenger.

Ms. Fanservice: Jennifer in the remake. You even get to collect some naked pictures of her throughout the remake. Body of Bodies: The Final Boss of the second game. Also the one from the remake... this time more literally, as some of the bodies he's composed of will occasionally fall off, revive and charge at you.Biting-the-Hand Humor: The Xbox 360 exclusive Terror Mask skin's description tells you that it can "Turn every arena into a red circle of death," a tongue-in-cheek reference to the infamous Red Ring of Death that plagued the first Xbox 360 consoles released. In other news, Splatterhouse has reached retailers (thanks for the heads up, Marty), where it will sit in storage until this coming Tuesday. Man, it seems so hard to believe it's less than a week away, after all the delays that have plagued the game over the past two and a half years... my god, has it been that long since it was initially announced? It doesn't seem it. Sometimes it seems twice as long.
